This week we had another highly inspirational weight loss motivation webinar on what stops people from losing weight.
Being overweight often boils down to bad habits. Habits are driven by mindset, mindset determines what you talk about, this in turn drives you to act in certain ways and this causes the results you see in your life. For example, you come home from a hard, busy day at work and then comfort eat when you get home, as a way of rewarding yourself for working so hard.
All or Nothing Approach
People often approach the process of losing weight with an all or nothing mindset, this often leads them to failure, because the process of losing weight and keeping it off requires changing your eating and exercising habits for life.
Research have shown that comfort eating leads you to feel good. This causes people to get addicted to these food types, and struggle with their weight accordingly.
Peer Group not Supportive of Weight Loss Goals
If there is one thing in life that has a massive impact on where you end up, it is the people you associate with, for example if you socialise with people who likes to party and overeat often, then you will have a very hard time changing your habits to where they need to be in order to achieve long term weight loss success.
Exercise is perceived as painful
As humans we are away from pain, towards pleasure motivated, this created a challenge for people who perceives exercise as painful. It is important to remember that the pain associated with exercise is just short term and it will soon become enjoyable.
Lack of Self-Discipline
Self-discipline is one of those things in life that we need to practice in order to become better at it. It is like a muscle, the more you exercise it the stronger and better it will get.
